Despicable Me 3 – A Review

If you were like me, it was quite exciting seeing the announcement trailer with great anticipation of the return to Despicable Me… then it was out on DVD before I heard about it again.

It has been a family tradition between me and my mom to buy her the sequels to series we loved watching together growing up. Ice Age being one of them, and now Despicable Me.

And I loved the third one. In my opinion, it is second to the first as far as liking goes. The relationship between Gru and Lucy is awesome, and likewise between Lucy and the kids. I also like how they did Dru, though it did feel like it was a little harder to appreciate either as much as they needed with the movie seemingly investing into both–at half what it could have. Overall though, I thought it great.

On a scale of 10, I would give it an easy 8, maybe more if it were for two or three “crude” jokes I felt a little unnecessary. I just prefer not laughing at naked people–of which both Gru and the villain have their shots. Minions was waaaaay over the top in crudeness, so I was very much more pleased with Despicable Me 3’s approach, as it wasn’t a come-back to method through the entirety of the film.

The story was funny, the bonding adorable, and unicorns are awesome.

An 8 out of 10 for me<3
